Model 1777 flintlock saddle pistol, 1st type, manufactured in Charleville. Round barrel, with flat sides at the muzzle, hallmarked. Breech block engraved ‘M 1777’. Bronze lock case engraved ‘Charleville’ and hallmarked ‘F80’. Brass fittings; the trigger guard is hallmarked ‘F’ and the cap bears the marking (probably regimental) ‘B9’. Walnut stock marked ‘St S 80’. Iron sling swivel and belt hook. Barrel: 18.7 cm. Overall length: 35 cm. A.B.E.
