Description

Senior officer's sabre model 1855 made at the national factory in Châtellerault in August 1872. Straight symmetrical double-edged blade with two grooves and central groove with prominent edge. The markings are legible on two lines in the grooves on the left side of the blade. Beautiful chased gilt bronze mounting. Short-tailed cap, guard branch subdividing in the middle into two S-shaped arched strands lost in the middle of the open cuts in the guard plate. Quillon arched forward, horn fuse lacking watermark, in its steel scabbard with two bracelets, Condition 1.
