MEMORABILIA. An album of photographs taken in Indochina, which belonged to General Yves BARDON when he was an artillery lieutenant, containing around 180 photographs, mainly in 70 x 50 mm format, some of which are reprints, taken between 1947 and 1949; a view of Hadong; the 1/RACM battery; Cochinchina in 1948, an amphibious operation, garrison life, the 2nd BMEO, portraits of comrades who died for France, Operation ‘Ondine’ in November 1948, group and individual portraits, Trung-Ha, operations on the Red River and the Black River, views of Hung-Hoa, on operations in 1949 in the Bavi, etc. Lieutenant-General Yves BARDON (1926–2017) A graduate of Saint-Cyr from the ‘Rome and Strasbourg’ intake (1944), he served in Indochina (1947–1949) as an artillery section commander; in Tunisia (1954–1957), as commander of a 105mm battery and subsequently on the senior commander’s staff, and in Algeria (1958–1961) as commander of a hunting commando and subsequently on the Commander-in-Chief’s staff. He commanded: the 1st Battalion of the 11th Artillery Regiment (1966–1968), the 16th Artillery Regiment (1971–1973), the Artillery of the 4th Division (1976–1978), and served as military attaché at the French Embassy in London (1973–1976); he was transferred to the second section in 1986. Commander of the Legion of Honour and of the National Order of Merit, Overseas Theatres of Operations War Cross, Cross of Military Valour, holder of the Order of Victoria (UK) and the Grand Cross of the Federal Order of Merit (FRG).
