Description
Raci GRAN PREMIO D'ITALIA PLACCA GARA AUT RACI badge 1933. Silver-coloured metal, small enamelled badge in the upper right-hand corner. This plate was issued by the RACI (Reale Automobile Club d'Italia) for the XI Italian Grand Prix held at Monza on 10 September 1933. The year 1933 remains infamous as the Black Sunday of Monza. RACI had organised the Italian Grand Prix in the morning (on the full 10km circuit) and the Monza Grand Prix in the afternoon (on the speed oval only). Three legendary drivers, Giuseppe Campari, Baconin Borzacchini and Stanisław Czaykowski, lost their lives in two separate accidents on the elevated south bend, probably due to an oil stain on the track. Note some wear and patina to the coin. Condition II+. RACI GRAN PREMIO D'ITALIA PLACCA GARA AUT RACI 1933 insignia. Issued by the RACI, Reale Automobile Club d'Italia, for the XIIth Italian Grand Prix held at Monza on 10 September 1933. The year 1933 remained particularly famous as the "Black Sunday of Monza". The RACI had organised the Italian Grand Prix in the morning on the full 10 km circuit and the Monza Grand Prix in the afternoon on the oval track only.
