Description
Prussian mounted officer's helmet. Train or Artillery officer's helmet, with curved scalloped chinstraps. Beautiful bomb, not pierced, plate with Prussian eagle well inlaid in the varnish. All brass fittings. Black horsehair Haarbusch on round base with Perlring. The counterplate has been repainted and the nuts on the threaded rods are soldered on. Tan basane sweatband and green silk headpiece. Worn helmet, patina. Prussian mounted officer's Pickelhaube. Officer's helmet for the Train or Artillery branch, fitted with convex scalloped officer's chin scales. Fine rounded spike. Prussian eagle front plate with silvered eagle mounted on the gilt brass star. All fittings in gilt brass. Black horsehair parade plume mounted on a circular base with pearl-ring trim (Perlring). The rear retaining plate has been repainted and the threaded retaining bolts have been soldered. Interior fitted with its original light fawn leather sweatband and green silk lining. A well-worn example displaying attractive period patina. Condition II.
