Helmet of the 5th Regiment of the Foot Guards, Pioneer Guards, Regiment of Guards Fusiliers or Eisenbahn - officer's model 1871/99. Beautiful headdress for an officer of the Guard. The bomb, which is not pierced, is in good overall condition with a few brittlenesses around the base. Visor and nape protector in good condition, with matching green and red linings. The sweatband is made of brown waxed canvas in accordance with a patent registered at the time. The headdress is brown silk. The plate, for which we have reservations, is fixed by two threaded rods held in place by nuts. It fits perfectly on the front of the bomb. The pair of chinstraps have their gilded brass scales, as should be the case for the above-mentioned units. The same applies to the four stars that attach the base of the spike, which are also made of gilded metal, as required by the regulations for these Guards units. The point can be unscrewed to allow a haarbusch to be attached in parade dress. The roundels are of the officer's model. Officer's model 1871/99 helmet of the 5th Regiment of Prussian Foot Guards, Garde Pionier, Garde Füsilier Regiment or Eisenbahn Regiment. Fine officer's helmet of the Guard. The shell, unrepaired, remains in good overall condition with some fragility around the base edge. Front and rear visors in fine condition with correct green and red linings. Sweatband of brown oilcloth pattern according to a period patent. Brown silk liner. The plate, about which reservations are noted, is secured by two threaded posts and fits perfectly to the front of the shell. The pair of chinstraps retains its gilt brass scales as prescribed for the aforementioned Guard units. The four securing stars of the spike base are likewise in gilt metal, as required by regulations for these Guard formations. The spike unscrews to allow the fitting of a haarbusch for parade dress. Cockades are officer's pattern.
