Description
Officer's helmet of the 94th Infantry Regiment of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach - model 1871/99. The shell of this helmet is in very good condition and the visor is lined on the inside with a thin green covering and the nape of the neck with the same type of covering but in red. The sweatband is made of brown waxed canvas, stamped with the "Depaheg Patent", which indicates a particular patent-registered process. The headdress is made of brown silk without any damage. Although not authorised to wear a haarbusch, and in accordance with a custom generally adopted by the officer corps, the tip unscrews to make it easier to store and transport the headdress. The plaque is the Wappen Adler in gilded brass with the motto "Mit Gott fur Fuerst und Vaterland", which is worn by the small states. The Saxon coat of arms, in white metal, is surrounded (when viewed) by laurel leaves on the left and oak leaves on the right. The plate is perfectly in place on the front of the bomb, although there are two tiny holes on either side, above the holes through which the threaded fixing rods pass. One of the rods is missing. The pair of flat-scaled chinstraps are not missing and the officer's roundels are present. Land's is green-yellow-black since 1897. A fine helmet for an officer from a small Saxon state at the dawn of the First World War. Officer's model 1871/99 helmet of the 94th Infantry Regiment of the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. The shell remains in very fine condition and the front visor is lined internally in fine green material, the rear visor with the same covering but in red. The sweatband is in brown leather, lined in fine silk, and the blackened leather rear support piece bears the name Dehaget Patent, indicating a particularly advanced process for the period. The silk liner and shell remain undamaged. Although the regulations did not authorise the wearing of a haarbusch for officers of this unit, the removable spike allows fitting one in order to facilitate storage and transport of the helmet. The plate is the brass Weimar Adler eagle with the motto Mit Gott fur Fuerst und Vaterland, worn by infantry officers of Saxe-Weimar, mounted on the line eagle when not serving in Guard units and decorated above the wings with stars, unlike the smooth stars of the shell. Four studs with threaded posts secure the plate, two above and two below the shell holes originally intended for the line eagle. One of the two side studs. The pair of flat scale chinstraps is complete and lacks the officer's state cockades normally present. Since 1897 the Grand Duchy state cockade has been black-green-black. Fine headgear for an officer of a small German state at the dawn of the First World War.
