Description
Commemorative medal of the Fiume expedition. The medal consists of a bronze disc with a diameter of 39 mm and a cambrette clasp. On the obverse, in the lower part, arms raising daggers with in the centre a Roman standard supporting an eagle with wings spread in the upper part of the medal, on the sides of the standard the inscription HIC MANE BIMUS OPTIME in two lines. On the recto the inscription AI LIBERATORI XII-SETTEMBRE MCMXIX, in four lines, above a laurel wreath, below on the edge the inscription FIUME D'ITALIA on an unrolled scroll. The ribbon has three equal vertical stripes in the colours of the coat of arms of the municipality of Fiume, turquoise, yellow and carmine. Some wear and patina. Condition II+. Commemorative Medal of the Fiume Expedition Bronze medal, 39 mm in diameter, with a ring suspension. The obverse depicts arms raising daggers with a Roman standard in the centre bearing an eagle with outspread wings above on each side of the standard the inscription HIC MANE BIMUS OPTIME in two lines. The reverse bears the inscription AI LIBERATORI XII-SETTEMBRE MCMXIX over four lines, above a laurel wreath, and along the lower edge FIUME D'ITALIA on a scroll. The ribbon displays three equal vertical stripes in turquoise, yellow, and carmine, representing the coat of arms of the municipality of Fiume. Some wear and patina noted. Condition II+.
