Description
1884 167th Line kepi. Made in madder cloth, headband in bluish iron grey cloth, original air vents present with no paint. Number 167 in madder cloth sewn onto a rectangular piece of bluish iron grey cloth sewn onto the kepi. Leather troop chinstrap held in place by two infantry buttons. Visor in original leather, slightly cracked on top, sweatband in fawn leather. The bottom of the kepi still has its original leather piece and its jute canvas carcass. The piece has many muddy remnants, a fine reminder of trench warfare. The 167th RI was garrisoned at Touls. Kepi model 1884 of the 167th Line Infantry Regiment. Made of garance cloth with bluish iron-grey band, original ventilation eyelets present without paint. Number 167 in garance cloth sewn onto a rectangular bluish grey backing itself stitched to the kepi. Troop leather chinstrap secured by two infantry buttons. Original leather visor slightly cracked on top, light brown leather sweatband. The crown retains its original leather piece and hessian frame. Numerous traces of mud remain, a fine testimony to trench warfare. The 167th Infantry Regiment was stationed in Toul.
