Description
Colonial infantry capote. Porpoise capote, model 1873, made of bluish iron grey cloth and fastened with two rows of six buttons bearing the Colonial Army coat of arms. Collar tabs with two naval anchors in fine madder-coloured cloth, shoulder loops removed, unbleached cloth lining with various illegible unit numbers and assignments. Note a square of fabric missing from the inside, invisible from the outside. Several moth holes and minor period repairs. Colonial infantry greatcoat 1873 pattern. Marsouin greatcoat in iron-grey blue cloth fastening with two rows of six colonial infantry buttons. Collar tabs with two naval anchors in fine garance cloth. Shoulder straps removed. Ecru canvas lining bearing several illegible regimental markings and unit assignments. One internal square patch missing but invisible externally. Several moth holes and small period repairs.
