Description
Colonial headdress set. Comprising a 1935 porpoise kepi in dark blue cloth, scarlet piping, anchor embroidered in scarlet cotton thread. Fine leather chinstrap held in place by two buttons with the arms of the Colonial Infantry, leather visor lined with fine leather. Headband in black leather, partially untucked, lining in gold satinette with the markings of the Audouard military tailor in Marseille. An American Westinghouse type 9th DIC sub-helmet with 80% of its factory paint. Two tricolour flags can be seen on the sides and an engraved naval anchor surmounted by a cross of Lorraine on the front. There is a blister on each side of the bomb and a crack at the rear, with the suspension missing. An African troops kepi cover made of fine cachou cloth, captain's rank sewn on the front, two holes for buttons. Head circumference approximately 57cm, height 9cm. A 1931 type colonial helmet of civilian manufacture, made of cork covered with white canvas, no holes for the passage of attributes, beautiful tan leather chinstrap. Lined with forest green cloth and marked 58.61. Colonial headgear grouping. Comprising a 1935 pattern colonial infantry kepi in dark blue cloth with scarlet piping and scarlet cotton embroidered anchor. Thin leather false chinstrap secured by two colonial infantry buttons. Leather visor lined underneath in fine leather. Black leather sweatband partially detached. Golden sateen lining bearing the mark of military tailor Audouard in Marseille. Included is an American-made Westinghouse liner attributed to the 9th Colonial Infantry Division retaining 80 percent of its original factory paint. Faintly visible tricolour flags appear on the sides while the front bears a naval anchor surmounted by a Cross of Lorraine. Two blisters to the shell and one crack at the rear. Suspension absent. Also included is a khaki drill kepi cover for Army of Africa troops with captain's rank insignia sewn to the front and two holes for button passage. Head circumference approximately 57 cm and height 9 cm. Also included is a civilian-made 1931 pattern colonial helmet in cork covered with white cloth. No badge mounting holes. Fine original tan leather chinstrap. Interior lined in forest green cloth and marked size 58.61.
