Description
Laos parachute instructor flag. Two-sided Laotian flag created in 1952, made of fine red woven cotton, with a three-headed elephant on five steps and topped by a white parasol made of white felt and attached to the flag. This flag was given to Colonel Bernard Louis Blouin, who was posted to the BCRA in June 1944 after training with the cadets of the Free French Army. He was appointed second lieutenant in 1945. After a spell in the Levant, he was posted to Indochina in 1947 with the shock parachutists and spent two periods in the Far East, notably in Tonkin, Laos and Thailand. He then served in Algeria with the same unit until 1960, when he was wounded twice and cited six times. Size 46x40cm. Laotian flag for parachute instructor.
