Certificate of authorisation to wear the Cross of the Order of Saint Stanislas 2nd class issued by the Grand Chancellery of the Legion of Honour in March 1879 to Squadron Leader Edmond Lavalard commanding the 3rd squadron of the military train crews. E. Lavalard was born in Versailles in 1839 and qualified as a military veterinary surgeon in 1860. He was assigned to the 3rd Lancers and the Imperial Guard train during the 1870-1871 campaign, and was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1871.
