Condition II+. The Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 687 (often called leichte Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 687 or LMAA 687) was a coastal artillery unit of the German Navy (Kriegsmarine) active during the Second World War. It was created in April 1942 on the island of Oléron (at the mouth of the Loire) with six companies. It was initially attached to the Seekommandant Loire (Commander of the naval defence of the Loire). LMAA 687 Île d'Oléron plate. Painted ceramic construction. Marked LM AA 687 Île d'Oléron 1942-1944. Manufactured by HB Quimper, pattern RY 176. Paper label illegible. Diameter 24.4 cm. Showing honest wear and patina. Condition II+. The Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 687 (Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery Battalion 687) was a German coastal artillery unit active during the Second World War. Created in April 1942 on the Île d'Oléron at the mouth of the Loire, it consisted of six companies and was responsible for the coastal defence of the sector.
