Description
US Coast Guard liner, manufactured by Saint Clair (?) using low-pressure moulding (fabric and resin), repainted blue with the C.G. mark and a white band. And the ‘Pall’ mark on the back. Interior features a white rayon suspension system and rectangular counter-rivets with chin strap loops. The neck strap, sweatband and leather chin strap are missing. Exterior paint is flaking; interior is soiled. On the inner edge, the name ‘JONES RAYMOND H 34720911’. Raymond Jones 1919–1996, originally from Sullivan, Tennessee, enlisted in 1943. Helmet collected in Normandy.
