A sturdy and imposing flintlock tromblon intended for use by the Royal Navy; a bronze tromblon barrel 745 mm long, with a pronounced moulding at the rear separating the barrel from the breech, the barrel is multifaceted at the breech, then round, and finally flared at the muzzle with an astragal; the flat of the barrel bears a superb hallmark featuring a naval anchor and a capital letter ‘M’; a flat-bodied lock marked ‘Saint Etienne’, a hammer with a shoulder, brass trigger guard, a flanged trigger mechanism, all fittings in brass, a stock plate with a long return, a long-tailed trigger guard, two ramrod channels, the lower one forming a hood, an iron ramrod, and a hinged, screw-mounted wrought-iron ramrod rest positioned at the gun’s centre of gravity. Sturdy and robust varnished walnut stock, the butt plate stamped with a large letter ‘B’ and the number 3; the bolt passing through the ramrod rest bears a four-sided nut; the weapon is presented with a bracket for securing the ramrod rest.
