USA", the left side of the frame bears the marking "Pat. Sept. 19 1871, Pat. 2 July 1872 Jan 19.75”, the trigger guard bears the marking 45 Cal (45 Long Colt calibre),, barrel 190 mm long (7 3/4 inches), smooth walnut grips; the metal has uniformly turned a tobacco-grey colour; barrel virtually smooth, with over 95% of the rifling missing.
