Description
A large flintlock pistol for naval use, made entirely of bronze by the renowned Cassaignard firm in Nantes; a large square-bore cannon, later rounded, with a flared and reinforced muzzle of 15 mm calibre; a round bronze lock body bearing the armourer’s signature, a cast brass pan, a round swan-neck steel hammer, and a firing spring screwed in from the inside. The weapon is entirely fitted with bronze parts, featuring a sturdy cap with a prominent stud and two struts reinforcing the grip, a round trigger guard, and two ramrod channels, the lower channel forming a hood, with a brass-tipped ramrod and a horn-shafted ramrod with a steel ramrod puller. Beautiful smooth walnut stock, simply varnished and adorned with a silver wire inlay at the breech, the only visible steel elements being the trigger, the trigger guard, the hammer, the lock, the springs and the screws. Functioning mechanism.
