Description
A very fine Berdan Model II (single-shot, sliding-block action) carbine in 10.75 x 58 R Berdan calibre, a single-serial-numbered weapon, with a faceted breechblock, a short fluted lever, a polished white breechblock, barrel and breechblock bronzed with fine traces of the bronze finish that has turned a tobacco colour, adjustable rear sight, double-headed eagle hallmark on the barrel and the flat of the breech, rifle manufactured in 1872 at the Tula Arsenal (to be verified), barrel with mirror-like rifling, muzzle cap, muzzle cap held in place by a small pin; the stock is pierced in two places, with the holes reinforced by screw-in eyelets for the sling. Overall length: 970 mm. Comes with its original cleaning rod; the mechanism is in working order. A Russian heraldic eagle, cut from brass, has been nailed to the upper part of the butt plate.
