Description
19th-century sabre, straight flat blade, reed-patterned back, point in line with the axis, reverse edge, fine gilded bronze mountings, cap with a short tail decorated on the reverse with a laurel wreath, main guard bar subdivided into three arched strands in the shape of "S" and decorated with a frieze of foliage, which protects the hand whilst joining the symmetrical guard plate edged with a lip; a four-sided, blackened wooden tang filigree-worked with a fine copper wire. In its single-strap steel sheet scabbard, the strap forming a trigger guard on the side, with a widened scabbard bowl.
