A fine flintlock officer’s pistol, with an octagonal Damascus steel barrel flared at the muzzle, rifled with 48 hairline grooves to a calibre of 28 balls per pound, a swivelling front sight, and a flat lock plate signed ‘Goffart’ (Belgium, early 19th century), flat hammer with lugs, waterproof iron pan, roller-type mainspring, iron-mounted gun, half-Charolais trigger guard decorated with a floral urn motif, two engraved rosettes on the rear plate, concave-sided cap, animal engravings, beautiful varnished walnut stock extending to the muzzle, Scottish-style checkered grip, discreet re-gluing on the grip that is virtually invisible, wood inlay on the fittings enhanced with silver wire inlay. Tension trigger, no ramrod, mechanism in working order, hammer retouched Condition 1 Category D firearm
