Key-hilt sword, with a straight, symmetrical, four-sided blade marked ‘Manufacture Française d’Armes de Saint-Étienne’ on the ricasso; the blade is polished to a white finish; it has a fine chiselled gilded bronze mount, a truncated conical pommel, domed at the top and engraved with a heliotrope flower, the rivet on the blade’s tang forming the flower’s centre; the main crossguard branch is widened at its centre, with a cornucopia motif framing a flower, main guard plate featuring a cascade of flags upon which rests a crown of intertwined oak and laurel leaves, straight quillon, secondary folding guard plate with ball bearings, black filigree horn pommel, housed in a steel sheet scabbard with a single strap.
