Infantry Officer’s Sabre, Model 1823, a fine curved blade with a flat back, produced by the Royal Manufactory of Klingenthal in June 1923, with its original polish showing some shallow oxidation marks, gilded chiselled bronze mountings, a short-tailed pommel decorated with a laurel wreath; the main guard branch splits in the centre from a ring into a secondary strand joining the crossguard; a wooden tang covered in shagreen and filigree-worked, in its leather scabbard with three brass fittings, the cap bearing the signature ‘Manceaux Paris’
