19th-century light cavalry sabre for a foreign army, with a fine flat, curved blade, a reed-shaped back, the reed ending in a counter-cut at the point; the weapon is mounted in iron, with a long-tailed pommel and a single ‘D’-shaped crossguard, the quillon curling forwards, two strong, flat, elliptical lugs, half of which project onto the tang and the other half towards the blade; wooden tang covered in shagreen and inlaid with a herringbone pattern of copper wire, in its steel sheet scabbard with two bands and two movable rings; the scabbard’s entry cap features an opening for the lugs.
