Portrait of a young blonde woman wearing a pearl necklace and a yellow dress with black stripes.
Oil on oval copper, visible dimensions 6.8 x 5.5 cm,
set in a silver-plated medallion measuring 8.2 x 6.8 cm.
This portrait, which was once accompanied by transparent painted mica plates used to disguise it and known as a ‘transformable’ portrait,
may depict Princess Henrietta of England, Duchess of Orléans, known as Madame (Exeter, 1644–Château de Saint-Cloud, 1670),
daughter of King Charles I of England and Henriette of France.
