Description
François-Pierre DUBASTY (1778–1842). A young brunette woman wearing an Apollo’s knot hairstyle, in a purple dress with a pink sash, short white sleeves and sheer muslin oversleeves, c. 1825–1835. Rectangular miniature on ivory, signed on the right: Dubasty Visible height: 8 cm. In its rectangular red morocco case with a hinged lid (minor signs of wear), height 9.2 cm. Weight: 80 g. Cracks that do not affect the subject. On the Dubastys, see N. Lemoine-Bouchard, *La Lettre de la miniature* no. 86 (Nov.–Dec. 2025), which corrects the biography of these artists. F-P. Dubasty, who set up his studio at the Palais-Royal in Paris, enjoyed great success there and had a large clientele; he exhibited at the Salon from 1833 to 1837. Expert: N. Lemoine-Bouchard.
