Description
PITTONI Giovanni Battista the Elder (Attributed to). Vicenza 1520 – ibid.; 1583. Village in the Italian countryside near the church Pen and brown ink. Mounted on a sheet (slight foxing). Top left: circular collector’s mark featuring a seated lion belonging to Ludwig Zataka (Vienna 1857 – Spital am Semmering 1925), an architect in Vienna (Lugt. 2672). On the reverse of the backing sheet, three annotations in black chalk in German; on the second line, the inscription ‘G. B (?) Pittoni J. Altere’. H. 11.8 – L. 20.5 cm.
