Description
Katana, Japanese sword. Unsigned blade, shinogi-zukuri style, with the temper line visible in places, displaying beautiful undulations. Mokkogata-style iron tsuba depicting leaves and fruit with small gold inlays; copper habaki. Black lacquered wooden scabbard, with fuchi, kashira and menuki present. Japan, Edo period (1600–1868), Shinshinto period, 19th century. Total length 60 cm, nagasa 44.7 cm. Fairly good condition; loose modern braiding; the scabbard mouth is missing; a few minor imperfections and losses; slight oxidation. The condition of the blade does not allow all its crystalline characteristics to be fully appreciated. Expert: Sylvain Lamotte
