A bronze cup, known as the ‘Warwick Cup’, with a medallion-style patina, decorated with eight faun masks and two detached handles. Marked with the foundry mark of Thiebaud in Paris. Presented on a square marble plinth. Total height 25 cm, diameter 25 cm (excluding the handles). Some wear; needs to be properly reattached to the plinth.
The Warwick Vase is a huge Roman marble vase decorated with Bacchic motifs, discovered in the ruins of Emperor Hadrian’s villa around 1771 by Gavin Hamilton, a Scottish painter and antiquarian in Rome.
