Very large decorated dish. Japan, Arita, Edo period (1602-1868), 18th/19th century
Diameter: 66 cm
The very large dish is decorated in the centre with two falcons and a pheasant; the wing is decorated with reserves depicting mandarin ducks, cranes and birds perched in flowering branches. The whole is enhanced with gilding.
An almost identical example from the Salting collection is in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Another is in the Tokyo National Museum.
