Description
Rare surgical drill bit by Domergue in Montpellier, 18th century.
Wrought iron and ivory; length: 22.5 cm.
Very rare Montpellier signature on this unusual-looking drill bit, typical of Domergue, who was active in Montpellier in the 18th century: a long tapered handle and a frame in the shape of a spider's leg.
The crown and fixing system are missing, but the model and signature are very rare.
Provenance: Nessi Collection - Koller sale 2012.
