Description
CHINA, Kangxi period, 18th century with mount FRANCE, REGENCE period 18th century.
A rare mounted porcelain perfume fountain, the central part consisting of a baluster-shaped porcelain vase, the body with an arched ovoid base decorated in green family enamels with a seated scholar accompanied by a child on one side, and a rock and flowering branches on the other. The sides consist of two "Sancai" type three-colour glazed stoneware candlesticks decorated with seated Fo dogs, one originally holding his brocade ball, the other surmounted by his whelp, their mouths wide open. The whole resting on a fine ormolu frame with chased decoration of foliage, with a tap and openwork cover on the central vase.
