Description
Chalice and paten in 800°° vermeil, the bowl decorated with alternating oval amethysts of different sizes in a frame of openwork vine branches in 750°° yellow gold. The bow alternates with florets, composed of four fine pearls centred on a sapphire, and stylised openwork palms in 750°° yellow gold. The base is richly decorated with a stylised openwork cross centred on a pearl, a painted enamel coat of arms bearing the arms of the Zorn de Bulach family beneath a count's crown punctuated with fine pearls, rubies, emeralds and sapphires, an oval painted enamel medallion representing Sainte Odile d'Alsace in an openwork foliage frieze in 750°° yellow gold and a painted enamel coat of arms bearing the arms of Gail. Each decoration alternates with two chains in palm mesh alternating with cylindrical runners. The paten is engraved with the monogram IHS.
