History: The original plaster cast of L'Enfant aux roses is kept at the Musée du Petit Palais. "This bust is a split edition, probably posthumous, of L'Amour blessé, from which we have isolated the head crowned with roses. We know of no terracotta proof produced during the artist's lifetime, neither listed in the Carpeaux sales of 1873-1874 nor in the inventory of 22 March 1875. However, we do know of a few proofs made by the family, including the one in the Valenciennes museum. Nor is it included in the Susse contracts of 1911 and 1914, but there are terracotta and marble prints made by this firm.
