Exhibition: Very probably Salon de 1868, n° 1262, "Portrait du fils de M. D...", "hors concours". Hippolyte Dominique Holfeld was a pupil of L. Hersent and Abel de Pujol. In 1822 he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He painted religious subjects, history, genre scenes and portraits; he was archivist for the Association of Painters and Sculptors founded by Baron Taylor.
