A heavily moulded walnut-veneered cabinet with two front doors. It is crowned by a large, flat cornice resting on the sides and uprights, the whole resting on a heavily moulded plinth, supported by five ball-and-spindle legs. Beautiful chiselled and gilded lock plate, with a lovely original lock featuring an openwork strike plate. Germany, late 17th century. Height: 217 cm. Width: 203 cm. Depth: 75 cm. One moulding has come away; one edge of the cornice needs reattaching.
