LARGE Bakers' Chop, BAMBERG (NUREMBERG REGION), FIRST HALF OF THE 17th CENTURY
A truncated cone-shaped pewter pot with a domed lid topped by a seated lion with a moulded and engraved oval escutcheon. It has a corded handle, a large lenticular poucier and stands on three ball feet identical to the poucier.
Hallmark attributed to Stephan MULTZ, received as master around 1600, cited by Erwin HINTZE, T 5, Ref 372, in "Die Deutschen Zinngiesserund ihre Marken": b / S.M / 20 (b for Bamberg and 20 for 1620)
