Description
VERY RARE RÖRHKEN CHOPE, DRESDEN, MIDDLE 18th CENTURY
in pewter, truncated cone shape, wide dowelled foot, raised lid with flat roof and spherical poucier. The base of the handle is decorated with an escutcheon.
It is engraved in full with a corporate attribute (?) depicting a crowned Passion Heart flanked by two rampant lions accompanied by a series of surnames and the commemorative date of a fiftieth anniversary: 1699.
The lid is engraved with PETER KRÖGER, the name of the mug's owner or a sworn guardian.
Marked :
1°- of Johann Christian BEUTRICH received master in 1749, affixed twice.
2°- city hallmark incompletely affixed.
A RARE TANKARD "RÖRHKEN" (OR RÖRCKEN), DRESDEN, MID-18TH CENTURY
