Very large vase, PARIS, FIRST HALF OF THE 19th CENTURY, c. 1825-1830
A porcelain horn-shaped vase on a pedestal, with porcelain and gilt bronze handles in the form of rams' heads and acanthus leaves, surmounted by applied gilt bronze torches, with polychrome decoration on a gold background on one side of a view of the Colosseum in the style of Panini, and on the other side of a horse frightened by lightning held back by a rider in a landscape, after Carle Vernet, in two rectangular reserves; The gold background with burnished effect decoration of trophies, animals, griffins, mascarons, antique figures, draperies, garlands of foliage and baskets, the lower third adorned with a partially gilded biscuit entablature of putti holding cassolettes, foliage and candelabras, the base and pedestal with blue background decorated in gold with garlands of fruit and foliage, putti and gadroons.
