At the request of Lord Elgin in 1854, Auguste Clésinger was commissioned to restore and complete the antique marble group of the Fates brought from the Parthenon to the British Museum in London. This group was then reduced using the Collas process and cast in bronze to decorate the tops of clocks and fireplaces. There are different versions in different sizes, with variations, particularly in the way the Fates hold the scroll and spindle.
