ÉMILE LOUIS PICAULT (1833-1915) Progress Bronze statue with light brown patina Signed "E. PICAULT Bears an inscription "Son of / Science / He leads / Man in / his / ascending and / eternal evolution". Titled "LE PROGRES / Par E. Picault" in a cartouche on the base Bears the number "777" stamped on the rock (Worn patina and cartouche, drips on the back and small casting accident) On a bronze base H. 61 CM - 24 IN ÉMILE LOUIS PICAULT (1833-1915), PROGRESS 61 CM - 24 IN. Émile-Louis Picault trained with the painter Henri Royer before taking part in the Salon from 1863. His abundant work, mainly allegorical subjects or those taken from mythology, can be found in many French museums.
