HEXAGONAL TABLE CLOCK WITH QUARTER RINGING ON PASSAGE AND ON DEMAND, SIGNED 'LUCAS SPR[E]NGER, WENSBURG,' (REAR PLATE), MID-XXIIIth CENTURY
in gilt brass; silver-plated hour ring applied to the plate engraved with foliage in the centre and corners, Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic for the minutes, openwork blued steel hands; short-lasting movement with five pillars, verge escapement with balance wheel, fusee with chain, barrel for the striking engraved, gilt and openwork bridge, striking on gongs by two hammers with heads in the shape of animals; hexagonal case without decoration, paw feet alternating with turned feet (? later), silvered inspection window frames, hinged back plate with signature and two stamps (one replaced).
