French enameller (?-c. 1542), mentioned in 1493, consul in Limoges in 1513, first identified Limoges enamel painter (Crucifixion of 1503, Musée de Cluny; Coronation of the Virgin, central panel of a triptych, polychrome with a dominant deep blue, Louvre).
At the end of the fifteenth century, Limoges' enamelling workshops experienced a new flowering (after those of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries), with the success of painted enamel on copper. This technique was used for devotional paintings, in response to the period's taste for objects of personal piety.
