Description
CARTEL AND ITS BRACKET, LOUIS XV PERIOD
of violin form with cambered legs, veneered with brass, brown scales and polychrome stained horn decorated with branches of flowers. The circular dial has a foliate base and is inlaid with white and blue enamel plaques with Roman numerals for the hours and white and black Arabic numerals for the minutes. The movement strikes the hours and the half-hour on a gong. It is richly decorated in rocaille bronze with, on the front, a bird resting on scrolls and a foliate "C". The bracket is concave.
