TABLE CLOCK, LE GÉNIE DES ARTS, RESTORATION PERIOD
Rectangular, in gilt bronze, the white enamelled circular dial with baton hour-markers and Roman numerals, signed Jn.Jh Hanset/hr de la Cour/à BRUXELLES, set in a terminal decorated with a bust of winged Love in a sheath forming volutes surrounding four medallion portraits in the antique style, representing Pausanias, Xenophon, Einn. Jo and Caesar on one side and on the other, two medallions with the profiles of Homer and Virgil; flanked by a winged genie. The base is adorned with a large frieze of palm leaves and a sea green marble counter base resting on swivel feet.
(Some wear to the gilding, part of the laurel wreath in the hand of the genius is missing, minor restorations to the base)
