Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) was a French foundryman and industrialist, a pioneer in the field of art bronze in the 19th century. He is best known for inventing a process that enabled the reproduction of famous sculptures in miniature, thus paving the way for the dissemination of masterpieces of Antiquity and Neoclassicism.
As well as sculptures, Barbedienne created refined decorative objects, such as clocks, vases and candelabras, which testify to his keen sense of aesthetics and expertise in bronze.
