Description
CHILD'S MARCH SALON WITH QUEEN'S BACK, LATE 19th CENTURY
Comprising a two-seater sofa, a pair of armchairs and four chairs in moulded and carved gilded wood. The back has tapered uprights decorated with gadroons and foliage, surmounted by a stylised pinecone. The uprights are joined by crosspieces with pearled flutes and egg-and-dart friezes. The large back features a mask of Mars as a child with a shell motif. The sofa and armchairs have armrests with cuffs. The front of the seat is slightly raised, with pearled fluting and oval friezes with laurel wreaths on the connecting dice. They stand on four tapering legs with pearled fluting and Doric capitals.
