Description
SMALL TABLE, AFTER BVRB, BY THE MAISON MILLET, LOUIS XV STYLE, CIRCA 1880 Rectangular table in rosewood and violet wood veneer with floral branch marquetry. It opens with a drawer in the waist and has a rocaille bronze trim. Cambered legs, top encircled by a moulding. Underneath, stencilled mark MILLET/FABRICANT/DE/MEUBLES & BRONZES D'ART/PARIS/50 RUE SAINT-SAUVEUR (Minor accidents and missing pieces) SMALL TABLE, IN THE MANNER OF BVRB, BY THE MILLET WORKSHOP, LOUIS XV STYLE, CIRCA 1880 74 x 63 x 38 CM - 29,1 x 24,8 x 15 IN. The Millet workshop (1853-1918) produced fine furniture and bronzes, reproductions of 18th-century furniture, of the highest quality. It was authorised by the Château de Versailles to make a replica of Queen Marie-Antoinette's famous jewellery clamp, and won the highest awards, including the Gold Medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889 and the Grand Prix at the 1900 Universal Exhibition.
