Japan, Meiji period (1868–1912) A pair of bronze candlestick-shaped picks, with a light brown patina, resting on three feet spouting from lion heads. The central section features a half-relief decoration of butterflies and dragonflies flitting amongst aquatic plants. Two stylised elephant heads form the handles.
