Description
LIGHT CAVALRY SABRE, the brass frame, the hilt with a German branch decorated with two ovals surrounding a square shuttle, the short cap with melon ribs, the curved quillon ending in a bar, the grooved and squared wooden handle, the curved blade with hollow sides, flat back and counter-edge, one third blued and engraved with flowers, foliage and latticework surrounded by gold; Brass scabbard with two bracelets and asymmetrical iron sting. Late 18th century, Consulate period. Blade length: 84 cm. Total length (with scabbard): 100 cm. Wear and tear to the scabbard, pitted blade.
